Wouldn’t he actually be going forward in time?
I’ll expand.
As you approach the speed of light, according to Einstein’s theory of Special Relativity, time begins to slow down. This has been proven with experiments.
Tacit to this phenomenon, barring any quantum event near the speed of light, when you reach the speed of light time stops dead.
Exceeding the speed of light therefore would suggest that time would begin ticking in reverse!
So, it was just a confusing choice to have Superman fly in a direction that would suggest that his exceptional angular moment caused the Earth’s rotation to reverse allowing Superman to go back in time and save Lois Lane.
He was actually flying faster than the speed of light (which is a stretch of course, even for Superman, but far more physically sound that the notion of time being reversed simply because the rotation of the Earth was altered).
Now, maybe I was the only one who didn’t realize this already. I am certain I’ve heard others discussing the ludicrousness of time reversing due to the reversal of the Earth’s spin, but maybe I’m wrong and dumb.
